Q102 — Perfect Machine Piecing

Description

Build confidence and accuracy while continuing quilt construction. Students will learn how to match seams, chain piece efficiently, and assemble quilt rows while improving cutting and piecing consistency.

  • Improving accuracy

  • Organizing blocks

  • Row assembly

  • Troubleshooting common beginner mistakes

Q103 — Sashing and Borders

Description

Learn how to finish and square up a quilt top with borders and optional sashing. Students will explore layout choices and techniques that help quilts lay flat and finish professionally.

Q104 — Batting, Basting, and Binding

Description

Students will learn how to prepare their quilt for quilting. This class covers batting choices, backing preparation, basting methods, and binding basics.

  • Spray basting vs pin basting

  • Quilt sandwiches

  • Preparing and attaching binding

  • Straight grain vs bias binding

Layer and baste quilt if not completed in class.

Q105 — Machine Quilting Basics

Description

Finish your quilt while learning beginner-friendly machine quilting techniques. Students may choose straight-line quilting or simple free-motion techniques depending on comfort level and machine setup.

Skills Covered

  • Walking foot quilting

  • Straight-line quilting

  • Stitch length and spacing

  • Simple free-motion options (must be able to drop the feed dogs on your machine.

  • Finishing binding

  • Final quilt finishing tips

Students leave class with a completed quilt or a clear finishing plan.

Please note, students must have their own sewing machine for this class. It doesn’t need to be anything fancy, if a walking foot is available, this will be useful.
