Intro to Upcycling: Transforming Textiles - July 18, 2026
1-Day Creative Workshop
Give new life to old garments and discover the art of transformation.
This beginner-friendly workshop introduces the foundations of textile upcycling—perfect for sewists, makers, and creatives curious about turning worn or unused clothing into something new and expressive.
You’ll explore simple deconstruction techniques, creative reassembly, and ways to add personal style through stitching and design. This class is designed to spark ideas and build confidence in working with reclaimed materials.
What you’ll learn:
• How to take garments apart for reuse
• Basic design and layout for upcycled projects
• Simple stitching and reconstruction techniques
• Tips for combining fabrics, textures, and layers
You’ll leave with:
• A small finished project or sample piece
• Practical skills to continue upcycling at home
• Inspiration for larger wearable projects
This workshop is also a great introduction to my 3-Day Wearable Art Intensive, where we take these concepts much further and create a full wearable piece.
Skill Level: Beginner to intermediate (basic sewing knowledge helpful, not required)
Duration: 3–4 hours
Materials: Students bring 1–2 garments to upcycle (details provided after registration). Basic tools and shared materials will be available.
Investment: $80
📝 Cancellation Policy
Please note: Workshop fees are non-refundable.
If you’re unable to attend, we’re happy to offer a one-time transfer to a future session of Sewing Lessons or a similar class, based on availability. To be eligible for rescheduling, notice of cancellation must be received at least 72 hours before the workshop.
No-shows or cancellations made within 72 hours of the workshop start time are not eligible for rescheduling.
Thank you for understanding — your spot holds valuable space and materials prepared just for you!
