After two years of teaching the Tamarack Jacket, we're ready for our next quilted garment adventure — the Hovea Jacket & Coat by Megan Nielsen Patterns!
The Hovea is a beautifully designed, versatile quilted jacket pattern with multiple lengths, angled feature pockets, and several closure and finishing options. Choose the style that suits you best and create a jacket that is truly your own.
One of the best things about the Hovea is that you can give a vintage or treasured quilt a whole new life by turning it into a wearable jacket. You can also piece your own fabric or use suitable pre-quilted fabric.
This is a 2-day advanced sewing class designed for sewists who have previous garment-sewing experience and are comfortable using their sewing machine. We'll take our time working through the construction so you can learn the techniques and leave with a jacket you’ll be proud to wear.
During class, we'll work on:
Selecting your size and Hovea style
Preparing and cutting your quilt or fabric
Pattern placement and cutting techniques
Constructing the angled pockets
Jacket body construction
Sleeve construction and insertion
Binding and finishing techniques
Closures and finishing details
Tips for working with vintage quilts and quilted fabrics
Class Details
2 Days | 10:00 AM–4:00 PM each day
$99 — Pattern Included (Sizes 0 - 34)
The Hovea Jacket & Coat pattern is included with your class fee.
Students Provide:
A vintage, new, or pieced quilt suitable for your chosen size OR appropriate fabric to quilt
Batting and lining, depending on the version you choose
Coordinating thread
Sewing machine in good working order
Basic sewing supplies
Any additional notions required for your chosen version
Important: If you plan to use a vintage or existing quilt, please bring it to Mojo Quilts and More for approval before class. We'll make sure you have enough usable fabric for the size and style you want to make.
Skill Level: Advanced
Class size is limited to ensure plenty of individual instruction and sewing time.
