A Year of Meaningful Stitches: 2025 Recap
One of the things I love most about running my own creative business is the opportunity to create truly personal, one-of-a-kind pieces through custom orders. Every project tells a story, and every customer brings something meaningful to the work.
2025 has been an especially rewarding year, and I wanted to take a moment to reflect on and share some of the beautiful, heartfelt projects I’ve had the honor of creating for my amazing customers.
From memory quilts and T-shirt quilts to custom clothing, memory pillows, and paintings, each piece was made with care, intention, and respect for the memories behind it. These projects are more than fabric and thread—they’re celebrations of life, family, milestones, and love.
In addition to custom work, long-arming continues to be one of my favorite parts of what I do. There’s something incredibly satisfying about helping bring a quilt top to life and finishing it in a way that enhances the maker’s vision. I’m excited to share some of the many quilts I had the pleasure of long-arming and finishing for customers this year.
As you scroll through the photos below, you’ll see a collection of stories stitched together—each one unique, each one special. I’m deeply grateful to everyone who trusted me with their memories and their quilts in 2025. Thank you for allowing me to do what I love every single day.
The Gardner Quilt – The Winner’s Circle
In May of 2025, Mrs. Doris Gardner brought me a very special project that had been waiting nearly four decades to be completed. She began The Winner’s Circle quilt in 1988, carefully cutting all 715 pieces, but never having the opportunity to sew it together.
Mrs. Gardner asked if I could finish the quilt for her, and I was truly honored to say yes. After several months of detailed work, the quilt was finally completed—bringing her long-held vision to life. Seeing her joy once it was finished was incredibly rewarding and a reminder of why I love this work so much.
Shared Memories: The Craigo-Snell Project
This custom order was a truly unique and enjoyable project. Mrs. Craigo-Snell brought me a cherished family quilt that had been damaged and was in need of repair. Rather than simply restoring it, she wanted to reimagine the quilt in a way that allowed her and her three sisters to each have a meaningful piece to share.
After brainstorming together, we decided to carefully repair the quilt and divide it into four sections. Two of the sections were mounted onto hand-painted canvases, while the remaining two were transformed into wall hangings. This approach preserved the history of the original quilt while creating new, individual keepsakes for each sister.
Major Vintage Quilt Restoration
This month, I had the honor of restoring a cherished vintage quilt that arrived in pieces. The batting was missing or damaged, and the quilt required complete disassembly. To preserve its original charm, I carefully created two new blocks that matched the old fabrics, added fresh batting and backing, quilted it, and finished it with a new binding.
Seeing the quilt returned to its full beauty and knowing the customer loved the result made all the meticulous work completely worthwhile.
The Clifton Jones Memory Quilt
One of the most memorable memory quilts I created this year was for the family of Clifton Jones. His wife and daughter commissioned a special King-size quilt to honor his memory. To make the quilt feel personal and lifelike, I left his coveralls intact and positioned them in the center, preserving their full size as a meaningful focal point.
The moment they saw the finished quilt, both mother and daughter were moved to tears, and their joy and gratitude made the project incredibly rewarding. So much so that they have already entrusted me with creating another quilt for their family.
The Jay Spicer Sr. Memory Quilt
One of the final heartwarming memory quilts I created this year was for the family of Jay Spicer Sr.—his children Juli, Joanne, Jay Jr., Josh, Jacob, and his wife Janice. This King-size quilt included two coats, hoodies, and over 20 of his favorite T-shirts. Many of the shirts featured his name, which I highlighted in the design to make the quilt even more personal.
As a devoted Chicago Bears and Bulls fan, his quilt also included plenty of logoed items, and I even incorporated his ball cap. Every stitch honored his memory and celebrated his life, creating a keepsake that the entire family could cherish for years to come.
